Allen & Allen’s President, Doug Barry, has an outstanding record of success in handling brain injury litigation. Dedicated to obtaining justice for his clients, Doug gathers and then studies the relevant facts in a brain injury case to pinpoint and then exploit the opposing side’s areas of vulnerability. At the same time, he maximizes the strengths of his own client’s case by working closely with members of his client’s medical team to explain clearly to a jury the brain injury’s impact on his client’s life and lifestyle.
A litigator for over twenty five years, Doug began his legal career as a prosecutor and also worked as a special agent for the FBI. Since 1993, his practice has focused exclusively on plaintiff’s personal injury law. One of Doug’s most satisfying trial results occurred when he obtained a $ 10,000,000 verdict for a client who suffered serious traumatic brain injuries including cerebellar and frontal brain contusions and a subdural hematoma. Doug is listed in the publication Best Lawyers in America and has been named in Super Lawyers, a Virginia magazine which recognizes the top 5% of lawyers in the state.
Doug is passionate about justice for children. Over the years he has represented many young people and has worked hard to ensure they receive fair and just compensation for their injuries. Some of Doug’s largest cases have involved children. Doug’s interest in children extends to community service. He is a past President of Rappahannock Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Doug is a member of the Brain Injury Association of Virginia and participates in that organization’s conferences and programs. He is also a Past President of the Hanover County Bar Association. Doug has served on the Faculty of the Commonwealth of Virginia EMS Symposium and teaches at local EMS programs across the state. He has spoken for years across the state to schools, police officers, firemen, teachers and rescue squads on liability law.
